France, second European country in terms of institutional investments

According to the French association of institutional investors (Af2i), the assets of French institutional investors, known as "zinzins", amounted to 3 144 billion EUR (3 313 billion USD) in 2016.

This amount exceeds the national GDP estimated at 2 465 billion USD in 2016. It represents 17.9% of the total assets invested across Europe, the latter amounting to 17 600 billion EUR (18 546 billion USD).

With 5 546 billion EUR (5 844 billion USD), the United Kingdom takes up 31.5% of European assets. Germany, the Netherlands and Italy hold respective shares of 15.4%, 10.5% and 5.5%.
