Generali management: some shareholders still contest the reappointment of Philippe Donnet

Philippe Donnet GeneraliGenerali's Board of Directors has suspended Luciano Cirina, Austria & CEE Regional CEO. This decision comes as a result of his failure to comply with his duty of loyalty and the substantial violation of other personal obligations under his employment contract. He will be replaced on an interim basis by Giovanni Liverani , CEO of Generali Germany.

L. Cirina has been nominated for the position of CEO of Generali by Francesco Gaetano Caltagirone, who opposes the reappointment of current CEO Philippe Donnet for a third term.

F. Caltagirone, the second largest shareholder of the Italian group and former chairman of the board of directors, has presented a list of thirteen candidates that will be submitted to the general meeting of 29 April 2022.

The list opposes the one previously approved by the Board and supported by Generali's largest shareholder, Mediobanca, which includes thirteen members including P. Donnet.
