Generalization of health insurance, family allowances, and pension in Morocco

health insuranceOn 11 February 2021, Morocco's Cabinet approved a bill to extend health insurance, family allowances, and pension.

The basic mandatory health insurance will be generalized to reach 22 million beneficiaries in 2021 and 2022. The aim is to include the vulnerable benefiting from the health assistance scheme, self-employed professionals and workers, and self-employed practising a liberal profession.

The new law also involves retirees who have worked yet do not benefit from a pension. The bill intends to introduce a pension system specific to professionals and self-employed and self-employed practising a liberal profession.
