Haiti earthquake: the CCRIF pool to pay 40 million USD in compensation

earthquake HaitiFollowing the violent earthquake of 14 August 2021, Haiti has suffered heavy material and human damages. The Caribbean Catastrophe Risk Insurance Facility (CCRIF), the insurance pool dedicated to natural disasters, will pay 40 million USD to the government to finance the supporting activities for the disaster victims.

This amount represents the total parametric earthquake insurance coverage for the 2021-2022 fiscal year.

A first installment of 15 million USD has already been disbursed to the government. The remaining 25 million USD will be paid out during the 14 days following the earthquake.
