Increase in compensation paid to European cedants

According to Bermuda Monetary Authority (BMA), Bermudan reinsurers paid, over the past 20 years, 72.8 billion USD in compensation to cedants and insured persons of the European Union.
Nearly half of the amount, that is 36.8 billion USD, went to the United Kingdom.
Between 1997 and 2006, only 16.5 billion USD were disbursed to European ceding companies.

This figure climbed to 56.3 billion USD during the second decade, between 2006 and 2016.
