Increase in the number of cyber attacks during the first half of 2019
According to a study conducted by the broker AON, the number of cyber attacks is expected to reach a new record in 2019. During the first six months of the current year, insurers reported 3 718 events worldwide. This figures exceeds the 3 391 reported attacks for the entire year 2015 and the other 3 252 of 2016. For its part, the 2018 toll is of 5 858 attacks.
Ransomwares and data leaks are among the most frequent and expensive risks. In Europe, claims over 1 million USD are becoming common.
The increasing loss experience is pushing rates up. In the United States, the world's leading cyber insurance market, premiums rose by 2.5% in the second quarter of 2019.
