Increase of the overall market turnover

Abdelmajid Messaoudi, permanent Secretary of the Conseil National des Assurances (CNA) has announced a global turnover of 42.2 billion DZD (576 million USD) in 2005 against 36.9 billion DZD (503.6 million USD) in 2004, that is, a 14.3% increase, mainly due to the growth of the motor class of business which, thanks to a premium volume of 18.75 billion DZD (255.9 million USD) displays a 44.4% increase. Despite this performance, the sector is still deemed to be insufficiently productive and hardly appealing to foreign investors.
