Inga Beale dreads man-made catastrophes

Inga Beale, Lloyd’s chief executive officer, is warning insurers against man-triggered risks, considering that terrorism, cyber-attacks and climate change stand as bigger threats than natural catastrophes. These statements are referring to risk indicator published by Lloyd’s. The latter has shown that nearly half the 301 cities covered by the survey are likely to be particularly vulnerable to those threats.

Other equally high risks would be the collapse of financial markets, power outages and nuclear accidents. It is highly likely that the London market may be exposed to the recent Brussels attacks. Despite rising demand for terrorism coverage, the amounts and number of claims generated by these events remain quite inadequate.
