Insurance business is reporting growth in 2012

Kenyan insurers have posted an 18.5% increase of their written premiums in 2012, reaching 108.5 billion KES (1.267 billion USD), against 91.6 billion KES (1.095 billion USD) in 2011. After-tax profit of all companies amounted to 14.8 billion KES (173 million USD), compared to 9.68 billion KES (115 million USD) in 2011. Of the 46 companies of the market, only nine of them have reported losses, with health and motor schemes in the red.
