Insurers forecast growing investment in technology in 2013

The recent report by the consultancy firm International Data Corporation (IDC) forecasts an increase of investments by the insurers of the Asia-Pacific region in the field of technologies in 2013. The main developments will be in China, India, Indonesia and Malaysia.
As insurance markets have developed considerably, their volatility and complexity require quick reactions on part of the insurers. On the macroeconomic level, the crisis and the low interest rates are reducing the prospects of profitability.
These instability factors are pushing international insurers towards the more buoyant Asian markets. Efforts to invest in new ways of marketing (internet, mobile phones, social media) will prove indispensable. Further investments will be made in the management, analysis, risk management and control tools.
