International Conference of microinsurance in Rio

Rio de Janeiro will host the seventh international conference on microinsurance in 2011. The Brazilian market has been posting encouraging results in this segment. Bradesco Seguros notes that its pilot project in two major slums of Rio and Sao Paolo is beginning to bear fruit: the insurer has sold 500 000 contracts in 2007. By paying a monthly premium of 1.6 USD, the insured may benefit from a cover of 15 770 USD in case of accidental death.
