Ivorian insurance accounts for more than 27% of CIMA’s market

The Ivorian insurance market generated in 2016 a turnover of 308.28 billion FCFA (495.7 million USD), that is, 27.47% of the entire underwritings of the Inter-African Conference on Insurance Markets, (CIMA) countries.

The insurance penetration rate, estimated at 1.7%, remains poor in view of the assets that the country is endowed with.

Côte d’Ivoire, today, has 28 insurance companies, 10 of which are life insurers while 18 are non life operators. It is also the headquarters of two local reinsurers and is home to seven regional offices of foreign reinsurers.
