Kenya Re has reported 1.1 billion KES of gross profits

in 2007, the Kenyan reinsurer has reported 1.1 billion KES (17.4 million USD) of gross profits. This performance is accounted for by the fact the company went international with the successive acquisitions of Seguros of Angola, UAP of Uganda and New Insurance Company in Sudan.
The partnership agreement signed with the Londoner broker Ashford Page has also had its positive effect on the results.
Still within the framework of this expansion move, Kenya Re is now targeting West African French-speaking markets where reinsurance premium amounts are estimated by Kenya Re's officials at 88 billion KES (1,4 billion USD) for just three reinsurers operating on the field. The first countries targeted are Senegal, Cameroon and Côte d'Ivoire.
