Launch of drought insurance for Senegalese farmers

The NGO's international network, Start Network, has launched a parametric insurance mechanism in Senegal. The product will be available for the 2018-2019 agricultural season.

The new insurance policy covers risks related to drought. Start Network will secure funds to rapidly compensate the victims in case this disaster takes place.

The project could provide cash compensations to more than 200 000 farmers. It is a partnership between the Senegalese Government and the African Risk Capacity (ARC), funded by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development.
