The cost of natural catastrophes beyond 4.2 billion USD in December

United States and Great Britain suffered particularly unstable weather conditions in the course of December 2015. In the United States, floods, hail and storms swept numerous regions. Weather experts listed 58 tornadoes while 64 people lost their lives. The States of Missouri, Texas, Illinois, Arkansas, Oklahoma, Mississippi, Tennessee, Alabama, Kentucky and Indiana were the hardest hit. Economic losses are estimated at around 4 billion USD, half of which is insured.

In Great Britain, violent winds generated by Desmond and Frank storms along with big floods affected Scotland, the north of England and Wales. According to initial estimates, economic losses attained 4 billion USD while insured losses amounted to 2.2 billion USD.
