Legal action taken against British insurers

lawIn a class action lawsuit, the British law firm Mishcon de Reya is urging catering companies, having underwritten a business interruption policy with Aviva and QBE, to come forward before 5 June.

The action will be filed in court on 10 June 2020 and will be at the firm's expense. Aviva refuses to cover these policies taken out by restaurant owners after the administrative interruption of their business.

However, the insurer says it is ready to indemnify the contracts considered valid. As of 30 April, the British insurer estimates the amount of these guarantees at 198 million USD. The law firm intends to extend these lawsuits against Hiscox, Allianz and RSA.

These class actions are pushing the authorities to undertake investigations to solve the problems between insurers and policyholders.
