Legal charges brought against Santam

SantamA tourism company is filing a complaint against the insurer Santam, a subsidiary of the Sanlam group, specialised in the non-life activity.

According to the plaintiff, the South African insurer refused to cover the business interruption losses sustained by its company due to coronavirus.

For the time being, the entire South African insurance market denies the coverage of business interruption risks that are not stipulated in the insurance contract.

Santam has expressed its will to go to court to defend its position.
