Life insurance in France registering negative net inflows in March 2020

Life insuranceAccording to preliminary figures published by the Fédération Française de l'Assurance (FFA), in March 2020, withdrawals by savers with life insurance contracts exceeded the level of contract premiums by 2.2 billion EUR (2.4 billion USD). One of the highest withdrawals since the year 2011.

In March 2020, the amounts paid out by savers for their life policies amounted to 9 billion EUR (9.8 billion USD) against 12.3 billion EUR (13.4 billion USD) a year earlier. The sums withdrawn rose to 11.2 billion EUR (12.2 billion USD) compared to 10 billion EUR (10.9 billion USD) in 2019.

The net outflow is thus 2.2 billion EUR (2.4 billion USD) compared to a net inflow of 2.3 billion EUR (2.5 billion EUR) twelve months earlier.
