Liverpool - 1 400 cars destroyed by the flames

On New Year's Eve 2018, 1 400 cars were set on fire in Liverpool car park. According to the Association of British Insurers (ABI), the damage amounts to 20 million GBP that is 27 million USD. This toll could have been heavier if the fire had ignited the entire multi-storey car park with a capacity of 1 600 cars.

Some vehicle owners have already been compensated. Insurers have hired staff to process claims as quickly as possible.

In the United Kingdom, insurers disburse an average of 33 million GBP (44.5 million USD) a day to compensate motor claims.
