Lloyd's of London: strong performance in 2021

Lloyd’s de LondresLloyd's of London achieved excellent results during the year ending 31 December 2021. Gross written premiums reached 39.2 billion GBP (51.9 billion USD), which is an increase of 11% compared to 35.5 billion GBP (48.2 billion USD) in 2020.

After recording a loss of 900 million GBP (1.2 billion USD) at the end of 2020, Lloyd's has resumed its profitability in 2021. By the end of last year, the profit before tax stood at 2.3 billion GBP (3.04 billion USD). The combined ratio gained 16.8 points to stand at 93.5%. This is the best result recorded by Lloyd's for six years.

As of 31 December 2021, the underwriting result stood at 1.7 billion GBP (2.25 billion USD) compared to a 2.7 billion GBP (3.7 billion USD) loss one year before.

The solvency ratio rose from 209% in 2020 to 388% one year later.
