Maritime incidents in Asia on the rise

According to the Allianz Global Corporate and Specialty Report (AGCS), maritime incidents in Asia increased by 25% in 2017. Most of these incidents are losses caused by weather disturbances, decline in safety standards and the increase of maritime piracy. Nevertheless, the global rate decreased by 4% during the year under consideration.

More than 30% of the incidents took place in Asia, particularly in the Indochinese peninsula, China, Indonesia and the Philippines. In addition to Asia, the east Mediterranean, the Black Sea and the British Isles are also among the regions that are most affected by maritime incidents.
