Medgulf reigns on the Lebanese insurance market

The report published by Lebanon’s association of insurance companies (ACAL) confirms that Medgulf remains the number one insurer of Lebanon. The company has posted a premium volume of 117.2 million USD in life and non-life insurance, that is, a 1% decline in comparison with 2010.

Allianz SNA comes second (100 million USD), MetLife Alico third (96.7 million USD), Arope fourth (92.5 million USD) and Bankers fifth (86.2 million USD).

The five major insurers in the area underwrite 40.2% of the premiums. This share climbs to 66.4% for the top ten companies.

The life and non-life markets grew by 10% in 2011 by posting a turnover of 1.22 billion USD. In the life market, MetLife Alico comes first with 72.1 million USD followed by Allianz SNA (49.8 million USD), LIA (46.4 million USD), Bancassurance (42.2 million USD) and Arope (37.6 million USD).
