Meiji Yasuda Life Insurance increases the maximum age of eligibility for health insurance

People aged 90 can now underwrite health insurance with the Japanese insurer Meiji Yasuda Life Insurance. This is the highest eligibility age for this type of insurance.

The increase in life expectancy has created new needs in Japan, a country that is preparing to house more than 500 000 centenarians by 2049. Several other insurers have adapted to the new deal.

These include Aflac Japan, Dai-ichi Life Group and Medicare Life Insurance which has raised the age limit of eligibility from 80 to 85 years.
