MetLife has decided to raise 2 billion USD by means of a capital increase

Following the losses sustained during the big depreciation of its shares on the New York stock market, the American life insurer has decided to raise 2 billion USD by means of a capital increase.
In the thick of the financial crisis since October 2008, rumors around the imminent bankruptcy of the company have triggered an abrupt and brutal collapse in the value of its shares. Being the American leader in life insurance, Metlife had to reassure the market by reiterating its financial soundness.
