Missing Flight MH370 Malaysia Airlines, between 250 and 450 million USD of losses

According to preliminary estimates from Standard & Poor's, the disappearance of flight MH370 of Malaysia Airlines is expected to cost from 250 to 450 million USD to the insurance industry.

Most of the compensation will be for the families of victims, the apparatus being insured for an amount of 100 million USD by Allianz.

The agency believes that this event should not impact on market prices except if it were to be classified as "loss of war". In which case, this loss, the most expensive of its kind since the attacks on the World Trade Center, would impact de facto rates of "risk of war" cover.
