Moroccan insurance market: turnover 2021
According to the preliminary data published by the Supervisory Authority of Insurance and Social Welfare (ACAPS), insurance and reinsurance companies (except for exclusive reinsurers) recorded a 10% turnover increase in 2021.
Written premiums stood at 50.254 billion MAD (5.3 billion USD) by the end of the last year.
Non-life premiums increased by 8.6% to reach 27.475 billion MAD (2.9 billion USD). At the end of 2021, these non-life premiums represented 54.7% of the market share. The non-life business is dominated by motor insurance which accounts for 12.892 billion MAD (1.3 billion USD) of premium collections, that is, 25.65% of the market's total premiums.
Life subscriptions stood at 22.779 billion MAD (2.4 billion USD), growing by 11.7% over one year. This figure represents 45.3% of the total premiums underwritten by the Moroccan insurance market in 2021.
