Moroccan insurance market: turnover 2021

Supervisory Authority of Insurance and Social Welfare (ACAPS)According to the preliminary data published by the Supervisory Authority of Insurance and Social Welfare (ACAPS), insurance and reinsurance companies (except for exclusive reinsurers) recorded a 10% turnover increase in 2021.

Written premiums stood at 50.254 billion MAD (5.3 billion USD) by the end of the last year.

Non-life premiums increased by 8.6% to reach 27.475 billion MAD (2.9 billion USD). At the end of 2021, these non-life premiums represented 54.7% of the market share. The non-life business is dominated by motor insurance which accounts for 12.892 billion MAD (1.3 billion USD) of premium collections, that is, 25.65% of the market's total premiums.

Life subscriptions stood at 22.779 billion MAD (2.4 billion USD), growing by 11.7% over one year. This figure represents 45.3% of the total premiums underwritten by the Moroccan insurance market in 2021.
