Motor non-insurance, a real scourge in Benin

The number of vehicles circulating without insurance has become increasingly worrying in Benin. According to the national center for road safety (CNSR), 44 589 vehicles, among which 17 621 uninsured, were involved in road accidents between 2012 and 2015, that is an average of four out of 10 vehicles traveling without insurance.

The urgency of taking remedial action is all the greater with regard to human losses. During the considered period, Beninese roads killed 2 656 persons and statistics revealed 20 884 injured ones.
