Natural catastrophes are more frequent in Africa

According to experts, climate change will have serious consequences in Africa. In the next ten years, 75 to 250 million people will be affected by declining rainfall which will reach 50% during this period, worsening the food crisis.
5 to 10% of countries’ GDP must be invested in order to combat rising water levels while sand encroachment will grow by 5 to 8%.
Since 1960, the number of people affected by natural events has grown by 6% in the Democratic Republic of Congo, Ethiopia and Nigeria. Algeria, South Africa and Zimbabwe are the hardest hit by the financial impact of natural catastrophes.
