Nearly 35% of cars are not insured

A study conducted by Indian insurers has shown that 35% of vehicles and 70% of motorcycles are not insured against motor third party liability insurance. The proliferation of fake insurance policies accounts for this reluctance. New technologies are being used to produce perfect replicas of insurance documents. Moreover, people traveling on village roads and in remote areas are hardly monitored by the police. The high cost of insurance is also another factor keeping Indians from underwriting motor covers.
