New products for agricultural insurance in CNMA

The national agricultural mutual fund (CNMA) is expanding the range of insurance products to farmers. So far, only a cover for producers of potatoes has been offered whereas the plans protecting cereal crops and tomatoes will soon be placed on the market.

The new insurance schemes cover producers against falling income due to lower agricultural yields. CNMA, which accounts for 81% of the market share of agricultural risks, has a network of 367 offices and 66 regional partner banks. Agricultural insurance accounts for just 2% of the overall premium volume reported in Algeria in 2013.
