New proposals for insurance brokers

New provisions will soon be introduced in the regulations governing insurance intermediaries. A seminar held in early September in Abidjan allowed participants to discuss the proposed changes.

A series of recommendations has been submitted to supervisory authorities. Consequently, in order to become intermediary, one has to be holder of university undergraduate degree in addition to a two-year minimum internship under the supervision of an insurer.

A hearing session has also been recommended before any candidate could be granted license. Another recommendation has been made for insurance brokers to be organized around a single body.
