New reinsurers' ranking per premiums in 2015

On the sidelines of the Monte Carlo congress held from 10 to 15 September 2016, the rating agency Standard & Poor's released its ranking of the top 15 global reinsurers according to 2015 turnover.

With net written premiums of 33.6 billion USD, the German reinsurer Munich Re resumes its first place, ahead of Swiss Re (30.4 billion USD), Hannover Re (16.1 billion USD) and Berkshire Hathaway (13.4 billion USD). SCOR maintains its fifth place with a business volume of 13.1 billion USD.

According to Standard & Poor's, the turnover generated by the top 15 reinsurers decreased by 690.7 million USD in a year. This decline is partly due to the significant tariff declines observed during the last renewals.
