Non-life insurers absent from more than 100 districts scattered nationwide

The Indian regulatory authority, IRDA, has fingered the lack of involvement of non-life insurers in 100 districts where they are totally absent in a country where regional inhabitants fully rely on bancassurance. IRDA has, therefore, asked insurers to explore various options in order to be present in those districts. This call may not achieve its end since insurers are strained by cost and profitability problems in those areas.
