Nuclear installations threats underestimated

According to Nuclear Free Local Authorities (NFLA), British agencies are underestimating the risks posed by new patterns of attacks targeting nuclear installations in the country. Potential threats highlighted refer to drones, cyber attacks, interception of critical data and missiles.

The study published has pointed out the vulnerabilities, recommending that some necessary adjustments be made quickly. It also advocates the adoption of approaches similar to the ones adopted by France and the Netherland in the event of a crisis.

Following recent attacks in Paris, these two countries have indeed initiated the distribution of iodine tablets to the most exposed populations. NFLA reiterates that the passive and active defense systems are also necessary around these fixed installations and for the transport of radioactive material.
