Only 17% of Iraqi citizens are covered by insurance

Political instability in Iraq has negatively impacted local insurance activity. In a country with a high potential, only 17% of citizens have an insurance policy.

According World Bank figures, Iraq has a population of more than 37 million in 2016. The country has 33 private insurance companies and three state-owned companies: National Insurance Company, Iraqi Insurance Company, Iraqi Reinsurance Company.
