Africa, partnership between ADB and the African catastrophe insurance pool ARC

In the margins of the 51st General Assembly of the African Development Bank (ADB) which took place from 23 to 27 May 2016 in Lusaka (Zambia), a partnership agreement was concluded between the ADB and the African insurance pool for natural catastrophes, African Risk Capacity (ARC). The two institutions are planning to collaborate in the areas of planning and to weather events and natural catastrophes.

In addition to this partnership, a memorandum of understanding was signed between the ARC and the Inter African Conference of Insurance Markets (CIMA) so that the latter provides training for the insurers of the Pan-African pool member states.

Note that the ARC was founded in 2012 by 26 African States. The Forum is intended to cover, by 2020, 30 countries and 160 million Africans against the risks of drought, floods and cyclones.
