Piracy is shifting towards East Africa

According to a survey published by AON, piracy is moving towards East Africa and the Arabian Sea. As the 2011 monsoon season came to an end, piracy restarted more importantly, in four areas of the African coast. The year 2010 has been characterized by a decrease in the number of attacks thanks to the security measures deployed in the Gulf of Aden. Increased security pushed pirates away towards the Arabian Sea where the number of attacks soared by 267% in 2010.
