Pirates highjack a super tanker with a cargo worth 20 million USD

On November 30, Somali pirates got hold of Maran Centaurus, a super tanker, flying the Greek flag. Before being seized by pirates, the ship was on its way from Saudi Arabia to USA and was sailing at 1300 km off the African coasts. This attack is a reminder of the previous seizure of Sirius Star in 2008, and marks a new stage in the piracy acts which have already characterized the region. It is the 168^th attack of ships in 2009 in this area.
