Pre-tax profit worth 18 billion KES (211 million USD) for insurers

According to the 2013 annual report, Kenyan insurers have reported 18 billion KES (211 million USD) in pre-tax profits.
That is three billion KES (35 million USD) more than in 2012, an increase of 20%. Gross premiums totaled 130.65 billion KES (1.535 billion USD) compared to 108.54 billion KES (1.2 billion USD) a year ago (+20.4%).

With an increase of 21.1% at 86.64 billion KES (1.018 billion USD), non-life insurance is performing better than life insurance whose increase was limited to 18.7% at 44.01 billion KES (517 million USD). Microinsurance and bancassurance are in their infancy, with very little incidence on the figures.
