Premiums' growth in 2009

The Libyan insurance market continues to grow at a rapid pace. The total volume of premiums has jumped by 25% in 2009 at 372 248 538 LYD (306 781 187 USD). The market, which has doubled its turnover in five years, has achieved 366 349 456 LYD (301 919 577 USD) of non-life premiums, up by 26% in comparison with 2008. Life insurance is still lagging behind with a premiums' volume of 5 899 082 LYD (4 861 610 USD), down by 5.5% compared to the previous year.
