Prudential sets foot in the Zambian insurance market

By acquiring the insurer Professional Life Assurance (PLA), Prudential is entering Zambia’s life insurance market. PLA is the country’s fourth life insurance company. The transaction, whose amount has not been disclosed, remains subject to the approval of competent authorities. The deal is supposed to be finalized in the first quarter of the current year.

The new acquisition shows the attachment of the British group to the African continent, where it first started its operations in Ghana and in Kenya in 2014, before getting established in Uganda in 2015.
