Reinsurance capacities at record-high levels

According to broker Aon Benfield, reinsurance capacities have increased by 5.3% over the first three quarters of the year 2016 at 595 billion USD, which represents record-high levels. Demand for reinsurance has also risen during the same period.

By September 30, 2016, the capacities of traditional reinsurance witnessed a 4.7% increase at 517 billion USD, accounting for 87% of the total supply of capacity. Alternative reinsurance has grown by 9.6% over the same period, accounting for 13% of the supply with 78 billion USD by September 30.
