Repair costs of 21 million USD after the Tamweel Tower's fire

The latest assessments related to the Tamweel Tower's fire which occurred in November 2012 have set the repair costs to 21.2 million USD.

Arab Orient Insurance (AOI), the insurer, has stressed its readiness to renovate the tower. But the offer doesn't include the replacement of goods consumed by the fire on the various floors. A company's official has explained, regarding the slowness of the compensation process, that "for two years, [the insurer] did not know who [it] could deal with in order to process the claim". A situation to which the 160 co-owners have responded by creating the Tamweel Tower Owners Association.
