Request for market restriction to foreign investors

The Indonesian insurance association (AAUI) has required the regulatory authorities to restrict access of the insurance market to foreign investors. In a Parliament session, AAUI chairman proposed to set an 80% threshold for foreign investors’ participation in insurance companies’ capital. This decision has been approved by the association of Indonesian life insurers (AAJI) which recommends to resort to foreign investments only when local companies are in need for capital.
