Results of the insurance market in 2003

A prosperous year for French insurance. According to FFSA estimates, insurance turnover rose from 8.5% in 2003 to 143.4 billion euros (178.6 billion USD). Property damage: 39.1 billion euros (48.7 billion USD) (+7.5%); personal accident: 104.3 billion euros (129.9 billion USD) (+9%).
ARegarding disasters, the December 2003 events represent the most devastating floods that the natural disaster compensation scheme , established in 1982, had ever witnessed. For insurers, the costs amount to 800 million euros.
