S & P is reviewing ratings of ten American insurers

The rating agency S&P has downgraded the ratings of five U.S. insurers and reviewed the outlooks of another five.
The insurers, Knights of Columbus, New York Life Insurance, Northwestern Mutual Life Insurance and Teachers Insurance & Annuity Association of America have seen their AAA rating go down to AA +. S & P also considered that the financial soundness of Assured Guaranty, Berkshire Hathaway, Guardian Life, Massachusetts Mutual Life and Western & Southern Life may be affected by the debt crisis that has shaken the United States.
As a result, their ratings outlooks have gone from stable to negative while their AA+ ratings have been maintained.
