SCOR: results as at 30 September 2020

ScorAs at 30 September 2020, gross written premiums of the reinsurance company SCOR reached 12.283 billion EUR (14.377 billion USD), a 1.9% increase compared to the same period in 2019.

The life activity achieved a turnover of 6.918 billion EUR (8.097 billion USD) against 5.365 billion EUR (6.279 billion USD) in P&C. The company’s combined ratio was set at 100.7% as it was impacted by both the Covid-19 pandemic and the Beirut explosion. The losses related to both events were estimated at 256 million EUR (299.653 million USD) and 44 million EUR (51.5 million USD) respectively by late September 2020.

SCOR Global Life estimates the coronavirus incurred losses at 251 million EUR (293.8 million USD) for the first nine months of 2020.

During the same period under review, the French reinsurer recorded a 66.3% decrease in its net result, set at 135 million EUR (158.020 million USD) compared to 401 million EUR (438.566 million USD) one year earlier.
