Slight rise of road deaths in France

For the third consecutive year, France has recorded an increase in the rate of road fatalities. According to the latest report of the national road safety council (CNSR), French roads claimed the lives of 3 469 people in 2016 against 3 461 in 2015 and 3 384 in 2014.

The CNSR specifies that these figures reflect a deterioration in the behavior of certain drivers. According to the agency, the target set by the ministry of the interior in 2012 to bring the number of annual deaths below 2 000 in 2020 seems henceforth difficult to achieve.
