Standard & Poor’s lowers Qatar’s sovereign rating

Standard & Poor’s (S&P) has lowered Qatar’s sovereign rating from “AA” to “AA- “. The American rating agency has placed the country under negative watch. A new degradation of the rating remains on the agenda on the short and medium-term bases. S&P has justified its decision by the negative impact of the late political crisis.

The breaking up of diplomatic relations between Qatar and the regional countries is indeed likely to slow down economic growth, reduce commercial transactions, thus hindering investment.
