Standard & Poor's downgrades AIG's rating

Standard & Poor's (S&P) has downgraded the outlook of American International Group (AIG) from stable to negative. The rating agency nevertheless has confirmed its "A +" rating of financial strength.

In a press release issued on June 6, 2017, S & P has expressed its doubts about AIG's ability to complete the restructuring plan initiated by its former CEO Peter Hancock.

Let's remind that the American insurer is going through a difficult period. The results as at December 31, 2016 showed a net loss of 849 million USD against a profit of 2.2 billion USD one year ago.
